The high profile "Wing-shaped" blade was lanched during the World Championship '95 in Tampere and has proven to be extrimply easy to handle, it gives a good positive feel in the water and is very clean during the catch and finish phases of the stroke. The ' Wing-blade' is narrower and longer than the conventional 'Big Blade' and has no center spine. It has been replaced with a 'lip' running along the top of blade. The design of this top "lip" added extra stiffness to the whole unit. Consequently the blade has become strong, light, streamlined and provides larger and extremely effective water contact area.

•  At the catch the blade quickly and cleanly finds its own depth in the water, it is effectively prevented from sinking to deep by the top "lip" - water no longer flows freely over the blade engulfing it in turbulence reducing its effectiveness.

• The blade sits neatly in the water at its ideal depth and gives the maximum turbulence free water contact area through the complete length of the stroke.

•  Without the center spine the blade slips cleanly and efficiently in and out of the water.

The pitch of the Wing Blade can be adopted to suit your needs between 0° and +7°.

Before assembly the 'stiffness' and the weight of each shaft is checked and measured. For any one pair of sculls or set of oars, the 'stiffness' will vary no more than ±0.1 cm.

Shown in the table are our standard production lengths. We are, however happy to accommodate any non-standard requests. Each oar and scull carries labels with the information of the exact min and max length.

Our unique electronic equipment allows us to fine-tune the combination of any handle weight with a chosen oar or scull, with a maximum error of ±5 g.

Standard positioning of the sleeves, together with the range of adjustment can be seen in the table. Oars and sculls requiring non-standard positioning can easily be catered for. All are fitted with white sleeves and black buttons, in some cases sculls may be fitted with red and green buttons. We accept requests for non-standart positioning requests - these can be specified at the time of ordering.

The standard grip sizes can be found in the table below. Specific cutomer requests can also be met. Each oar or scull is individually balanced and set with pre-determined center of gravity. To eliminate the ingress of water, a highly
water resistant varnish is used on all wooden components.

Oars and sculls can be dispatched unassembled (without the handles fitted). They are easily put together on site using the special adhesive provided. This reduction can significantly reduce freight costs and makes packages more economically transportable.

All oars and sculls in production today can be completed with carbon handles. The adjustable handle is available for Ultra Light and Ultra Light Gold shafts only. This allows easy adjustment to the overall length, as it shown on the picture below.

With traditional composite blades the exposed foam core on the open edge has always been vulnerable to damage and the inevitable penetration of water. At BRACA-SPORT® we have developed a unique moulding system which not
only protects the internal foam from water penetration, but gives extra strength and rigidity plus exceptional impact resistance.

Because of our unique moulding system for sealing the blade edges each different type and size of blade has its own individual 'blade tool'. All meet with an exceed current FISA safety standards.

Each blade has an extended sleeve for the attachment of the shaft. This method of assembling the two separate components has been extensively researched and tested. It has been proven to be the very best available method for strength, durability and 'in water' performance. The blade, the stiffened sleeve and the shaft all form one homogenous unit.

All blades and shafts are constructed using an U/V protected heat cured toughened epoxy resin.

By using the latest technology and extensive testing, BRACA-SPORT® has developed a line of oar and scull shafts
without equal in both quality and performance.

Our success has come from the unique combination of the materials used, the lay-up techniques and the method of consolidation.

A thin band of High Modulus Carbon (HMC - 0.11mm) is laid upon with varying quantities of High Modulus 'impact resistant' glass. This combination of materials is then introduced to toughened epoxy resin and together they are laid and wound onto a steel mandrel under very precise and exact controls. Polymerisation takes place at 160°C under high pressure.

The result is a tube of excellent consolidation, high impact resistance and stiffness, all in an a very light package.
The new GOLD BRAND family of products is a combination of our best and most sophisticated oars. Ultra Light Gold shafts are marked by a distinctive Gold band and represent the highest level of know-how and quality BRACA-SPORT® offers for rowers. By using a special layering system with a 100% pure high modulus carbon shaft and a special carbon blade

structure, the Gold brand products have the highest level ofstiffness at the same weight as the Ultra Light oars. BRACA-SPORT® made a special and exclusive surface design for its Gold Brand to underline the hi-tech nature of these products.

Ultra Light (Yellow band) shafts are produced by using 100% pure high modulus carbon. These shafts have maximum lightness and high stiffness.
Standard (Red band) shafts have a lower carbon content. They are less stiff then the Ultra light and are 20% heavier. This material combination has the highest possible impact resistance.
Recreational (Green band) still retains excellent 'stiffness' and 'feel', even though the carbon content has been reduced to 40%. They maintain high impact resistance and carry only a 11% weight premium over the Standard type. Optional handle sizes are available for both younger athletes and adults.
